Ask your students what AI is and you will get a shrug or a movie plot. They use it every day. Almost none of them can explain it.
This no-tech lesson fixes that in one class period. Students write step-by-step "programs" for a partner playing a perfectly obedient, perfectly literal robot. The drawings go hilariously wrong, and the reason why unlocks the whole concept: computers follow instructions exactly, without understanding, and precision is everything.
This is not a lecture. Students are programming, testing, logging bugs, and laughing at the results. Then the debrief lands the connection to the chatbots they already use, and one final question sets up genuine disagreement: is a machine that runs billions of steps per second actually smart?
